    Dance The Royal Beat!

    By Cudjoe

    Happy Hump Day!

So, its Wednesday and you are probably looking forward to the weekend already. I sure am. It is very cold in Washington, DC today but I get to escape the cold for a few days. I will tell you about it later. Now that I got your attention. I know you ate so much on Thanksgiving and torn between making your New Year’s resolution and borderline giving up altogether.

Nope, nope, here I come, Yep, I got a suggestion for you. If you live or visit the DMV area for the first two weeks of December and in the sportive spirit, I know just the right attraction to get you in the mood.

So tell me something, do you dance when no one is watching? Choreograph your own made up routine to your favorite Afrobeat song? I know I do. I even got moves I later learn have a name and I lowkey thought I invented it but hey you snooze you lose. Let me put it like this; if you love to dance or enjoy Zumba, then I am about to elevate your enjoyment when I share this activity with you.

    Ok ok ok, now spill!

My friend Fatima and her sister Ramatouile operate Dance the Royal Beat (DTRB) an afrobeat fitness company based in DC. DTRB provides an African dance-fitness experience in which attendees drip sweat by moving to the sounds of Africa.

Their classes are nonstop fun, and all you have to do is show up and let your feet do the rest. The music and dance routines will stimulate your mind, body, and soul. I call it a day party without the drinks, just pure dancing till you drop. I bet you wanna find out when the next class is, don’tcha?

For more information visit their website at

Hope to see you at the next class, you won’t regret it.

Come back and tell us how much fun you had. We’ll be waiting!
